Happy Christmas and a happy new year!! hope everyone has had a great time over the festive period! we had a fantastic time at the show both boys were superb!! caspey was such a clever beast and was trying so so so hard i think my new gun ho way of riding him is the way to go very uncuth but hey works for him haha!

Reeno was a super star as always jumping out of his skin just currently trying to find the right bit/noseband head gear combination which is proving difficult!!jumped him in a hackamore the other day and he was very settled in that so we will have to see how that goes its all trial and error!!
ponys have had two weeks off as i have been in hospital so looking forward to cracking on with them when i get out on saturday!!

Horse of the year show- the worlds most presigious horse show.

If someone told when i started riding lessons 10 years ago that i would compete at the worlds most famous horse show on a horse i produced myself i wouldnt have even taken notice of what was said to me. 4 years ago when i bought this horse. this horse that turned out to be a nightmare of a horse far to high spirited and far to much for me. who knew that we would form an unbreakable team and that he would be the one to get me to the worlds most prestigious horse show if someone told me this i would have laughed and walked away. now i can smile and say yes. Yes he did that .. we did that.. we did that together with nobodys help. 3 and a half years ago when i got told this horse was dangerous and too much for me by the person i had the most respect for in the horse industry at the time , told i should sell him told he should be sent back. should i have listened? im sure as hell glad i didnt listen to anyone except myself and casper. I wouldnt have thought he would ever be rideable in a show atmosphere never mind the electric atmosphere of a show such as HOYS.

we took in every moment of the show and he behaved like an angel was not phased by anything handled the arenas perfectly even warming up in the international arena he didnt bat an eyelid, and stabled everyone commented on how calm he was and such a fantastic temprement he had such a gem! hes turned into such a star and in my eyes hes perfect. so he might not be the worlds most incredible jumper, everyones cup of tea but hes my best friend my cup of tea and i have no expectations for him everything is a bonus hes a tricky character so we just take every day as it comes, in my eyes he is the most perfect fun gorgeous superstar of an allrounder! i enjoy every minute of him and i hope he adores me as much as i adore him!

i never even dreamed of competing at hoys never mind being placed 4th at the horse of the year show. my eyes welled up as i warmed up for my class on thursday.. i felt such a sense of acheivement and was so proud of my boy for behaving like such a gem and to do a lap of honour (a slightly uncontrolled lap of honour might i add! ) to the famous music at hoys was sensational!

thankyou to everyone who has believed in him and myself and stuck by us and for the people who have helped me along the way to make it all possible for us!! and thankyou to my parents for sticking it out with us :)

Going to horse of the year show is something that never really crossed my mind when I got into horse riding, especially with Casper after all the stick everyone has given me in the past about him... and he's gone and done it!! If you ever want something and someone tells you that you can't and you believe you can.. keep trying until you make that dream an achievement

Whilst I was off with my broken leg I had this crazy idea that I would give a qualifier a go and see what the judges thought of him, so once I got back to health I bought a double bridle and started to practice in it I then entered a class at berry farm last weekend, and came 8th out of about 18, I still got great comments but they said that he was too buzzy and jolly for that class and they were looking for something a bit less flashy a bit more straight forward which I thought were fair enough comments and was happy with that.. they then whoever went on to say if this was a performance horse class he was the most quality in the ring by far and then asked why I had not entered him in the ridden hunter class.. This class worried me a little as he's still quite a slight breed compared to some of the hunters and as the lightweights middleweights and heavyweights were all together I thought there was no chance in Casper shining above the big middle and heavyweight hunters!!
We took are chances and I entered.

After entering we found out the class had to be split into two half's due to the large amount of entries and not all the horses would fit in the arena at the same time I was put in the 2nd section. 4 were pulled out of the first section to go to the final later on and then my section came in... Casper was a star and was pulled forward to go to the final along with one other horse! 6 of us in total and I was one of two lightweight hunters ... we went round together 4 judges with their eyes on us looking at different aspects of the horse... inspecting every inch of the horses that stood before them... they then talked amongst each other.... they were pointing at me and another... then to my suprise they called me forward we WON the ridden hunter qualifier gaining are ticket to hoys, we did are lap of honour with are rosette trophy envelope and sash and then had an interview!

I was in shock for ages and didn't tell anybody how I had got on until I got home and I realised that we had actually done it. The horse I got told was dangerous, useless and unrideable did it, the horse that was a man's horse too big for me and too much for me... we did it as a team... i couldn't be prouder of him and i have no regrets with this horse!!! Hess still very cheeky and quirky at home but he gets in the ring and he knows his job which makes it all worthwhile!

Reeno also did the riding horse class and came 8th out of a strong class of 16 was over the moon with him and had some really positive comments on him!!
